I've just ordered a sound unit (not DCC) that will fit inside a wagon and could take Pam into a new dimension.
My problem is that she needs a bit of an upgrade in the 'looks' department. I want to get rid of the the plastic look and give her a coat of GWR matt green.
OK, my begging question is: has anyone got any old GWR transfers that could come my way? A full set from Phoenix would cost a fortune and all I want is the basic G W and R and wondered if anyone had an old set in their 'spares' box.

Is it essential that you have the GWR lettering? 'Cause I've got loads of Shirtbutton logos for the 30's GWR engines which I'll never EVER use up... _________________ Life is like a box of chocolates, so scoff it all while you can... Just had a thought, if you wanted to be really realistic, you could include some numbers for the front buffer-beam. I also have a set of them, and these go onto any GWR model from at least the 1920's onwards. I'd also reccomend some brass numberplates-Fox Transfers do good ones. _________________ Life is like a box of chocolates, so scoff it all while you can... Cheers Declan.
The only reason for GWR is to keep her looking the same (continuity) for future Dave vids. (Sad innit? )
I would be very grateful if you could help though.
I'll PM you. _________________ OK, so now what do I do?
I've started work on Pam.... bending the brass wire to conform to the body and getting the curve right was a bit more difficult than I thought...
Scraped off the raised detail and removed the old transfers (they were GLUED on - not waterslide ), along with the whistles etc.
Gave her a coat of GWR green from a 20 year old Humbrol tinlet. (I could tell it's the old stuff because it smells like paint and goes on a lot better than the current product ). Another coat might be called for once it's fully dried...
Black paint, transfers and any other detail I might fancy will be done next, while I wait for the sound unit to arrive. _________________ OK, so now what do I do?
Unfortunately, Pete's transfers where designed for a white background and when placed on Pam, they lost all their yellow/gold colour! (Not a problem really, she looks loads better than she did . Thanks Pete )
Another view so you can see my not-so-perfect brass rod bending. and they way transfers can be really obvious in certain lights (even though I gave them a coat of matt varnish )
I dropped down the layout to give her a run and even after all the surgery, she still works...
Just waiting for the sound PCB to turn up.... _________________ OK, so now what do I do?
She looks alot better than she did before the Operation, I really like the handrails, they look really good, the transfers dont look quiet right though but I never even realised in the video, good job.
