Watching these gives me the same feeling as going over a hump back bridge.    I have to hold onto my puter desk tightly just in case I fall off.

From this page of the Fred Dibnah website.

I love it when he says 'You can work quite confortably like when you are the ground'  Noooo!

I'm like you Pol. I'll have nightmares after watching this!

Like lots  of  people i  have seen  Freds  series  over the years  and  still  fascinated  how he   erects  the scaffold  till  the chimney's demise but i    prefer to stop  on  the ground  and wouldnt like to do  anything  like  it.

Yes Tom it made  me  smile when  he said its   pretty  comfortable up  there  like being  on  the ground.

Yes Pete, and I bet he had a full safety harness and was hard wired to the chimney!

I just think Fred was amazing. Very brave aswell - i'm not a fan of dangling in mid air climbing a ladder that high.

H&S would have a field day with that now , You must have three 'points of contact' when working up ladders now . so unless you can work on handed you need a harness as well as a hard hat and all tools attached to you in case you drop one .

Is that why nearly all window cleaners seem to have a brush at the end of a long pole now

Nah Dave, that's got something to do with Dragons Den. Saw the brush thingy on a trailer for the prog.
