Would that Kadee 20#be suitable for my stock with swallowtale fittings without having to change anything else?

If you have NEM pockets it should be that you take the tension lock coupler out and swap it for the kadee without having to do anything else.
If you follow the link to http://www.modelrailforum.com/for...og/ozzie21/index.php?showentry=90 then it seems the number 20 is the longest so will work on all the curves.
