Hi  All,

An easy  install  on  a  common   loco  to a  lot  of  layouts ...... the  loco  itself  is  a  good   exmple from Life like  having  good  traction capabilities  making it  ideal  for  a  power  unit  to   pull   a combo   CMX    cleaner  car and  tomix cleaner set to  Vac even  up   gradients  with  ease   .......  i  have  two of these and  a  B  unit  all  powered  and fitted  with   M1   decoders   lot of pulling power  in  one  train

A couple  of  notes  on  the install   the  rear  weight   is  as   well   drilled   to  make  space for  the decoder   joining  the holes  up  and  a  final  filing,  before   refitting  the weight  to  the  chassis place  a  piece  of tape  across  the  chassis  as a  precaution  the  full  length  of  the  weight,   repeat under  the  front weight.

When   removing  the bottom  motor tab   the  tip  of  a  knife   under  it  and the iron  for  a second  parts  it  better   from  the contact  strip  .....  see  picture  6  again  a small  piece  fo  tape under  the  tab  is  a  good  idea  to  prevent  a  short.

Apart  from that  its  a  straight  forward  install.

I can't fault his instructions. They seem straightforward. But I doubt if there's any lead in the weights, they're probably made from some kind of zinc alloy. I don't think models containing lead would be allowed to be sold in toyshops. Remember all the fuss when some Chinese toys were found to have lead based paint.

Hi Poliss,

Yes the  instructions  are  good   ..  i  would  think   the  mention   of   lead  in  the  metal   could  be   H&S   issue to  cover  their  backs  .....  though like  all  metals   you   should  wash  your  hands  after  handling  them   really

The weights in my East German models might be lead, that's what it says in the instructions anyway. But western ones? Probably not, which is why the weights are sooooo big, not so heavy as lead. Think of the space you could save if you used 24 carat gold though. I bet that's what Rod Stewarts and Pete Watermans weights are made from. Melted down gold discs. lol

Hi Poliss,

If  the weights   are   24  carat  then  i  want  them  as they  are  HO    and  you  can get  more   gold  in  them
