Hi Guys,
Thank you for mentioning our website we have a lot of fun producing it. As well as Meccano we have a long association with model railways. In both 4mm scale and 009/Hoe. Having recently inherited a large collection of 00 we are thinking about building a GWR branch line - I know everybody does it but we haven’t - yet.
Back to the Meccano, we have just built a model of the Forth Bridge which we will be exhibiting at the TIMS (Telford and Ironbridge Meccano Society) Exhibition in the old Coalbrookdale iron works, Ironbridge over the May bank holiday. There are some pictures of it on our website and it has a train on it - albeit rather over-scale, but that is the advantage of Meccano - you can get away with that sort of thing…
I am pleased I found your site and I will contribute from time to time. I’m off to answer a question I saw on one of your other listings concerning an ex colleague of mine, Chris Ellis. I was Art Editor on the very first issues of Model Trains and went on to edit it for a while, along with Airfix magazine, after Airfix went to the wall in the early ‘eighties… but that is another story.

Hi Poliss/Ralph,
I like many remember the good old days of spending countless hours with Meccano ............ every birthday/xmas rushing to the local shop for the next X set to upgrade my collection .... the most memorable came with a razor tipped screwdriver 
 went through a few boxes of plaster with that one but hey it was good fun

The March 1917 letters page of the Maccano Magazine makes interesting reading. The 'Nerd' factor was around even in those far off days with enthusiasts being thought of as 'kiddish'. 
In the December 1918 edition the editor notes that the armistice has just been declared and all the staff have gone out for a p*** **, erm, celebration, with the editor swiftly to follow.

What a great link - Thanks! I have not seen that piece of film before. The interesting bit is the Blackpool tower powered (lift goes up and down) by a vertical boiler steam engine. As they were only built for three years between 1929 and 1932 it was a current item at the time.

That's good too, thanks - young Stanley looked like he was having fun. If he is still with us he will be in his 80's now!
If you use the searh on that site ther are other films that have meccano content...
