After seeing a poliss' post on the N-Gauge Terrier thread, I thought it might me a good idea to see if I could fit a layout to go under my bed. Mum has said yes to the idea, so here is what I came up with-
The top half is the out of sight area. My question is that if I used DC control, and all the points marked with L were live, would I be able to control the whole layout ,including sidings, with the power coming from the headshunt? I think I may have to make the points at the back un-live, so I can use the sidings and leave the train back there static... _________________ Life is like a box of chocolates, so scoff it all while you can... I want an N gauge layout and have done for ages but i can barely fit 1 00 gauge one in my room never mind an 00 and N gauge mess. Good Luck I like the plan. _________________ Please visit

Cheers, it's designed to live under my bed when not in use. Thinking about it, I may not need to have live points... Oh, a boy gets so confused with this stuff! _________________ Life is like a box of chocolates, so scoff it all while you can... No you wont need live frog points , unless you want to do a lot more wiring Best to stick with electrofrog ? i think Peco call them because it will keep the wiring simple , but with them small locos (0-4-0) can loose power as they go over them where they don't with live frogs , but live frogs you need to fit a switch normaly on the base of the point motor so adding to the cost _________________ Experience is something you don' t get until just after you need it .

OK, cheers Pete! Would a normal Hornby 12V controller work with this layout? _________________ Life is like a box of chocolates, so scoff it all while you can... Any more trouble from you, and it's a short sharp visit from the smack fairy!
Plan looks fine. Plenty of operational potential there.
Not sure about using Hornby controllers with N gauge as I've read that they are of the feedback variety which a lot of N gauge motors don't like, especially the older ones. I'd say use one of the old Graham Farish types such as the Powerbox 0192. You can usually pick one up for under a fiver at model fairs. _________________ Get off the line Bobby!

I'll look out for it, but if I can't find one, I'll go for a standard Bachmann controller, I've just remembered my sister's Graham Farish set had one. _________________ Life is like a box of chocolates, so scoff it all while you can... I've come up with the name Trepoynt-Tre is a common prefix for Cornish place names, no idea what it means, and according to Wikipedia, Poynt means Well, but I may change the name-Todpool sounds a nice name... I think in my mind, it'll run to Wheal-somewhere. _________________ Life is like a box of chocolates, so scoff it all while you can... It's an end to end layout, it's gonna be operated as a preserved line, that allows larger locos like the 9F's and the Manors to work on it. _________________ Life is like a box of chocolates, so scoff it all while you can... Just thinking , it will take a lot of work to get the coachies out of there siding . If it was my plan i would have the sidings the other way round _________________ Experience is something you don' t get until just after you need it .

Woo! Something to keep my from annoying everyone! Camborne Parkway can't do that as it's built above my sister's bedroom, so she hears all the trains moving, so to retaliate, she plays her hardcore club stuff ultra loud!
Is it just me or do you think this topic needs moving? Hardcore rave music is in no way connected to model railway electrics! _________________ Life is like a box of chocolates, so scoff it all while you can... Any more trouble from you, and it's a short sharp visit from the smack fairy!

I think I'm just about decided on the name, Treganstren, it's Cornish for Home-With-Train, Tre-Gans-Tren.
