I don't realy know why as i sort of remember main line steam ( being born in 1960) but i still like the old Diesels more and a lot of them are no more but they do have a shorter life span than steam locos most around 30 years , but i wonder when the first class 66 will be saved from the cutters ? _________________ Experience is something you don' t get until just after you need it .

I think the first one to be lost from the ones in service now will be the class 60 the last Brush ? _________________ Experience is something you don' t get until just after you need it .

Yes, fraid your probably right about the 60 being the next diesel to go, great shame. They are supposed to have an overhaul ever 100,000 miles, none of them have ever had overhauls and they are nearly 20 yrs old now!! So, they will probably start to get scrapped, unless DB S*** put some money into them, to have them re-engined.
Kestrel models look very nice, we have them in at work, lovely models.
shame about the 60's...... if looked after theyd manage another 30 years, easy. _________________ * Percy: Isn't a Jubilee a sort of party? Thomas and I took some Scouts to one once.

*see chance to say * Look at the class 47 all well over 40 years old and still going strong , so much so that they were rebuilt , but as a 57 but they do live on _________________ Experience is something you don' t get until just after you need it .
