With passion and soul
she sets off with grace
to the next station
against time it's a race,

she is smooth and she's elegant
she is fast and tough too
admired by the public, the builders, the crew,

A flash of light and a harmounious scream
she is past in an instant with a bright, shiny gleam

The paintwork is lathered with care
all the pipes and the tubes are all working and there
and the loco pulls like a horse, with the grace of a bird
the smell and the sight and the puffs to be heard

The silent Hero of travels and freight and for who?

Our Grandparents, parents, maybe even you!

She worked for a living
she gave all she could
but all of a sudden
in a state of disrepair
she sits and she rots, just waiting there
the scrapyard fills up, her nameplates are sold

The most important bits like the brass and the gold,
are thrown to collectors, while the loco, she sits

Just waiting,
and waiting,
for a visit.

Joe

Woo! Encore!
Brilliant words used! I love the 'Harmonious scream'-that's the best description of the A4 I've ever heard!

Wonderful stuff Joe.  If it's OK with you, I'll print it and hang it on my wall as well.  (Although I might add a sub-title and re-name it as 'Duchess'   )

Cheers!
