Hi,
I'm thinking of making Newton East into a snow scene layout, perhaps only a light covering, I was just wondering if anyone on here has any pictures or articles about either real life snow scenes or on model railways, It would be a great help as I have to decide whether I could pull it off or not, as for actually getting anywhere with Newton East, well, until I've finished SOS It's not going anwhere, 'till next time, byebye.

Hi  Joe,

Snow  isnt  a  medium  i  have  modelled   ........  but  have got  a  shaker  of  Woodland  scenics   snow i  hope to  use  in the future  being  a fine   scenic  material  as  their others in the range  a   thin  spreading   of  diluted  PVA    using  a  seive to  apply it  gives good  results  allowing  you  to  have  areas   of  part melted  snow   up to  a fine covering.

Hi Joe,

There are some model snow pics on the Miniatur Wunderland site.

Basically, the landscape is modelled using plaster and, once the plaster has hardened, painted a brilliant snow white. A second coat of paint - mixed with a bit of white glue - is brushed on after that. A stuff called "Diamantine" is then sprinkled onto the wet paint/glue mixture. The next day, vacuum off the surplus and you're done.

Erhard
