Help  can anyone advise me how to adjust the steam valve. Do you slacken the small grub screw and twist till it stops whistling, as I'm losing all my power nothing will move.

Any dirt trapped in the valve? (reading the Hornby FAQ here) What you really need is Tom.

Sorry Ian, I can't help.    I've never had that problem.  I personally wouldn't adjust anything under the body, just clean contacts and tighten any loose screws.
It's often been mentioned on the big H site that they are very good and cheap for repairs, so worth calling or e-mailing their Cust Service.

Thanks for All advice everyone ,Yes Thanks Tom I e-mailed Hornby when I had a steam leak on the tender overflow they returned my e-mail within 1 hr. the washer on the filler screw was torn, replaced this, then got this new problem.I will e-mail them again will let you know what the problem was when it's running again.
