From what I understand it's the exact same model plus pin badge that I bought for £116 s/hand. (cost price plus postage) For the extra £100 all you get is a copy of the makers plate, pin badge and certicate, oh! and the all important wooden box. In my opinion, it's not worth the extra unless you are a collector. K9-70 |

But decided to attach six Mk1's (4 baccy's + 2 mainline), and open it up to see how well it can handle the train. No problems in handling the train, even up the incline at full speed. Grinding sound ?
It sounds like one of the following problems. 1: One of the drive cups (BL2007 drive cup) slipping on the drive shaft, (common fault) The cure, remove affected drive bogie from chassis and remove drive cup. Then apply a drop of Super Glue Gel to the drive cup and push it home onto the shaft. Leave overnight to harden properly. 2: Broken drive shaft (520-009 driveshaft) (unlikely, but possible) Turn loco upside down and apply the power leads from the controller to the wheels. Watch to see if the wheel set fitted to either of the bogies is turning or not. Deltic service sheet E3252-IS002, will explain how to remove the body. To remove the bogie from the chassis, unsolder any wires, and remove the screw at the top of the motor tower. This will allow the bogie to be completely removed from the chassis. Examine the ball ends of the drive shaft in case one of them has sheared off, (see photo) 
Bachmann should supply either of these parts F.O.C. If the drive shaft is okay, then it will be the drive cup that's causing the problem. Ease it off with a flat blade screwdriver and apply Super Glue Gel, and leave overnight to harden properly. K9-70 |

Has Bachmann's quality control dropped then? I bought one of those CIE Class 141/181s they made for Pat Murphy (Great Irish name that!) and one of the couplings was missing the hook. Okay, nothing that couldn't be fixed but annoying all the same. The BR Class 40 I bought had one of the side windows missing (not fallen out as there was no rattling). | ||
