Building a Baseboard

I want to sart building my layout soon, can anybody give me any tips on how to make a base board as safe as possible (so the wood doesn't bend) what sort of wood I should be using.

Also does the baseboard need any sort of frame on it.

And lastly, does anyone know where I could just buy the wood with the frame attached, etc.

Thanks.

I use MDF But have just realised... Its warped!!! I need bracing and fast... so a really quick tip, use lots of bracing
Teleman

I have used MDF and it needs a 2x1 frame with 24 inch bracing , The MDF i used is 15 mill thick so i can screw the point motors to the under side of the board . This will also give the depth if you want to cut in roadways etc .
Watch my 009 layout postings as i will be showing another reason of thicker baseboards soon

This might sound a bit thick, but could someone tell me what bracing is and how you use it???

Bracing is just batons of wood, screwed to the underside of the baseboard to support the MDF or chosen baseboard surface.

Can also be glued on but it doesnt last as long  Its usually plywood I think
