Easy build spray booth

I suddenly realised that the old spray booth I built was 'recycled' and used on my layout and as I wanted to spray a model, I had to think of a quick substitute.

So, the last remaining board from my old booth plus a sheet of paper and 3 bits of gaffer tape:

It worked a treat but I wouldn't recommend it for any serious spraying - there's no way of properly ventilating it.

Hi Tom,

Good  idea   ...  nice  to see  the old  Studebaker  tanker       didnt know you  did   diecast  resprays  ?

What   finish  are you  going  for   ?

Have a  box of Dinky  Bedford CA'S       here ready  for  repaints     my  favorite  van  in diecast

I'm doing a couple of 'restorations' to see how I get on Nick.  I didn't realise that there's a market for restored Dinkys!

Apart from the Studebaker, I'm doing a old Devon:

I'm just going to get them back to original spec.   It's good fun.

Stripped and primed ready for painting:

I'll be more than happy to do one of your CAs if you like the end results of my efforts!

Hi Tom,

Looking good  there  cant wait to see    them  finished

Looking great Tom. I reckon a code 3 is worth a lot more than a scruffy old wreck of a model.
Even older tom

They aren't going to be Code 3s Pol.  A code 3 (I've found out) is 'A model that has been re-liveried or repainted or customised in some other way that is non-standard for the original Manufacturer, and deviates from the standard format for that particular model' so mine are just going to be restorations.

I have done a code 3 (without knowing it was a code 3!) by changing a Vanguard Anglia to look like my first car (including wonky number plates and rust!   ):

Great  job  Tom        very realistic  see  the tax is  in  the post

I was just going by Mr.Blundens guide Tom. Link: http://tinyurl.com/mayg9j

Code 1.   This is any diecast produced by the manufacturer. It could be a mainstream toy or model, or a limited edition or ordered promotional. The important thing is that it has been produced totally by the manufacturer.

Code 2.   This is any diecast that has been finished by a second party, with the knowledge and agreement of the manufacturer. Examples could be a batch of plain white or coloured models, that have had their decals added by another company, with the consent of the manufacturer. It could be castings ordered unpainted, that have been finished and presentation boxed under license. At the end of the day, two companies have been involved in the finishing process, where normally there would be one.

Code 3.   This is the refinishing or alteration of a model, without the consent of the manufacturer. This description sounds almost dodgy, but Code 3 is now a recognized collectable in it's own right, and there is nothing illegal or unscrupulous in these singular alternative models. Code 3 covers a wide spectrum, and can mean simply swapping the trailers of two different articulated units, to completly changing the colour and look of a model. This of course, is long after the model was sold by the manufacturer.

I couldn't see them fitting in the Code 1 or Code 2 category and there isn't a Code 4 as far as I know.
Mr.Blundens Code 3s are outstanding. Here's an example. http://tinyurl.com/lv5djk His other guides are worth reading too.

As I said Pol, I haven't actually changed anything (colour or whatever) only restored to the original model and it was MrBlundens who gave me my definition.  I'm confused.....

Anyway, I finished the tanker today.  I'm pleased with the results.  Frustrating at times with lots to learn, but having fun none the less!

I used superglue followed by a dollop of 2 part epoxy to fix the base back on.  Not as strong a fixing as other methods but it'll do me!

Cast whitemetal repro  rivets  to  match  the originals  are available  Tom  if  you  are  fussy about the finish   ever
poliss

Nice paintjob Tom. Wish I could paint like that. As for Code 3 etc. If Mr.B has changed his definition then I'm confused too.   My whole knowledge of what's what is from Mr.Bs guide.

Ive got an old y toys, Blue Chevrolet Corvairre, I was going to restore it, but thought better of it, I was going to make it more realistic but they're impossible to find parts for. Any links that you found of use Tom?
