GWR-BR

I have just had a look in my little book of BR Locomotives and found out that the Hornby GWR 101 Class is infact a BR 1101 class when it has a BR Livery. The Hornby Club model should therefor not be classed as a GWR 101 class but a BR 1101 class... Just thought you would like to know.
I have also changed my website to fit this description in where posible... this book has all of my locos in it! So if I ever want to renumber one I have got it all in my Pocket. Yay

Wasn't 101 was scrapped in 1911  Not that I'm an expert on it, just remembered (or think I remembered) reading that.  That would make it ontly the second GWR loco to need renumbering..

Would love to know more about this charming little engine and see some pictures of it.

You seem to be running some of the same locos as I do, maybe they were allocated to your depot before moving to Birkenhead General (8M)

The GWR 101 was scrapped in 1911-it never even left Swindon. The 1101 class was a class of five engines absorbed into the GWR at the grouping, they worked as dock shunters and looked like this:

The valve gear looks like what was on 101 in Hornby's 1978 catalogue, well, the drawing of it.

Nice engine, I have a few Swindons in my fleet (plus Hogwarts Castle if you count 'er indoors)

No copper chimney cap?

What suprises me is this was in an Ian allen ABC book... or was it just me thinking it was the loco I was after? yeah probably me.
