Hornby Elite Sound FunctionsIs there a one button solution for operating sounds using the Hornby Elite?

Unfortunately, no. What I would like is an update that lets you press the number pad for the function you want. Now, you still have to press function and choose the number. A patch or something to download onto it would solve the problem, surely.

Thanks Will. The answer is to buy an NCE Power Cab I think. The Elite seems to be obsolete already.

Go for the Powercab Poliss ... though i have nothing against the Elite the powercab is a better unit.

Not for me Nick, I've already decided on the Power Cab. It's in answer to a question on the Big H from an Aussie. Couldn't tell him that the solution was to buy the powercab on their forum, so I emailed him about it.
BTW, how many locos can you run at once with the powercab and does it remember locos?

Hi Poliss,
I have been told the powercab can run up to 9 locos all fitted with sound not sure if it was fitted with a booster though.
If like my N scale locos most pull 0.03 amp then you should be ok with at least 5.
Mind it depends on how many locos you can keep an eye on at any one time
The sound on the powercab is controlled by the function buttons & the headlight button for the Big boy two presses can turn it off if you wish ..... given me start once or twice when the sound disappeared
Digitrains are friendly retailers who give good advice on their products either Chris or Jeremy.

The Power Cab can run about 5 with the standard power supply (1.7 amps), the Elite can run 10 with the standard power supply (4.0 amps). Personally, I think that the Elite has tonnes of potential but Hornby don't seem to want to use it. It's got an easy interface, loads of features but it's the small things that hold it back. The Power Cab is probably the more expert approach with more options to play with as you become more familiar with it.
