I may have asked before

But is there a non-railway model transformer that has 15v AC output? Non-model railway because I know you have to pay extra if 'model' is put in front of anything, such as paint.
Teleman

16 volt is a standard output .  How many amps do you need ?
poliss

Haven't a clue. Enough to run 25 points and a circuit controller and maybe other things like lights.
Teleman

Best to go for two of these then and spilt the points between them and controller on one lights on the other as they have twin outputs . I use the 100va one but i can't find the link for that but the RS part number is 208 399

I wouldn't have known it was suitable 'cos I can't see where it says whether the output is AC or DC. Could be 'cos my eyes are tired though.
Teleman

Trust me Gov its ac  . All transformers which have wires or tags that you wire to to mains are

BTW if you buy one of this type make sure you use the mounting kit that comes with it or there will be a very big flash and bang !
poliss

Another one of those trade secrets.
Teleman

Its the sort of thing that if you don't ask they think you know
Teleman

Found it !! and the price is better

At the moment i use one (for testing) but have the second one waiting for the control panel to be built
poliss

I wasn't planning on building centimetric radar.
Do these things come with a case?
Teleman

No there wysiwyg
poliss

They do need a case I presume? What kind? I'm always very careful with electric equipment after electrocuting myself when I was very young. (Poked wires from old electric clock into socket).
Teleman

Yes , I build them into the control case but you do need to have them in a case to be safe .Maplin do lost of casies as the ones from CPC cost to much .
That's where my mate Steve come's in handy as he has a folding machine for metal sheets just costs the metal and a few pints of beer and a bag of crisps (cheese & onion)
poliss

I'm still upset with Maplins over their misleading advertising. I try to shop elsewhere if possible.
Teleman

I will see if i can find a cheep one from somewere then and post it then .Thats where my 'local' electronic shop (H Gee & son) comes in handy Maplin never had a chance in Cambridge as if they don't do it they tell people to go there . He will sell you 1 resistor if thats all you want and smile as he takes your money (5p for a 1 watt resistor) and he sells solder by the foot !
Teleman

Something like this

poliss

Looking at the prices it will have to wait. I may be a bit short for some time. The missus is homesick too and it costs hundreds to fly to Moldova and back.
Teleman

Thats were i'm lucky miine comes from Suffolk 15 mins drive away to her step Mum and her Dad( no longer with us) wandering again he had 3 Cruffs champion dogs [King Charles] and has been a judge there and her Mum is in Essex 5 mins away
poliss

Close is just as bad. Means you have to visit much more often. I've had both kinds.
Teleman

It's when you tell people that you have 3 mother inlaws , the look of shock  but i get on well with all of them even the one from the ex (she is only 5 mins away to)
poliss

How about when you tell them that your sister-in-law is a Colonel in the Moldavian State Police?
Teleman

Not saying that a lot of them are thick round here but they would ask "That near Germany init? we beat the in the cup mate back in 66 , did you see the match the other night ...." getting back to something they know something about (foortball)
