Infuriating E8!After the problems with it stopping the other night I thought I'd give it a good running in. At first it wouldn't go at all, but after stripping it, jiggling wires, cleaning brushes it went around my layout for 15 minseach way with no problems at full speed. I put her into forward to give her a slow run and she stopped after about 1/4 inch. Light is on but no movement. Could it be the brushes, which are a bit worn, or the motor contacts?

Yep, it's the old Atlas E8. It works fine now. It must just have been stiff after being in someones collection for years without running. That front light is very bright. When I convert it to DCC I'll be replacing the bulb with an LED.

She goes like a bomb now. My noisiest and fastest loco by far. It's one of those, it either works perfectly or not at all motors.
