I can  remember  Grandad   Dave   never  the  same without Sam  in  the  series   .......

Watched  James  May  as well    i  dont rate him  as a  presenter  ......he  always  puts  across  is  he isnt  interested  in  the  subject.

Best  bits  were the  visit to  the  Airfix store  &  the  footage  of  Spitfires
Teleman

Yep , I would love to be let loose in that store room too Nick

Always the spitfire. Could have made a Hurricane instead. There's not many of them about. If he was doing the first ever Airfix kit it should have been a Fordson Tractor.
Teleman

I can't remember what my first kit was   Just remember my Dad made most of it . I did make a lot of tanks in my early kit making days as i was into 'War Games'  I still have a lot of solders all mixed up in a box . Saving them just in case i do a 40's~50's layout with an Army camp .
poliss

Mine was a Hawker Typhoon. I liked the radiator. Must have been years before I bought a spitfire and then it came with a 110 in the Dogfight Doubles series.
Teleman

Thinking about it i can remember building a Vauxhall car by myself when i was about 7 or 8 years old . My Dad was never into modelling so i would get bored as it was taking too long for him to build things

Wasn`t it at Hornby down in Margate??
Noakesy123

yes, the store was down at margate. Would love to have a good rummage in there!

I thought the program was quite good, the scalextric ones and the Model railway one will be the best.

Iplayer it is I meant to set a reminder so I wouldn't forget to watch it but I forgot to set the reminder...

I forgot it`s my wife`s birthday in 2 weeks time, but she has reminded me 3 times to-day
Even older tom

I'm a bit late but....

*Puts Airfix anorak on (I've been building them for over 50 years) and starts spouting 'interesting facts'... sorry*

The model that was built was NOT the original design for BT-K. They actually used the later 1965 MkIV kit to produce the 1:1 kit.
The original BT-K was a copy of a 1:48 Aurora kit [complete with the same fake squadron codes (BT-K) and the same inaccuracies and exactly the same parts sprue, just a smaller scale] which came out a couple of months before the Airfix one.  No-one in Airfix can 'remember' if there was a deal done with Aurora but both companies 'were on friendly terms' at the time.

Superb programme, I enjoyed every minute and look forward to the rest...

I remembered yesterday so took her to Hull on the Train (another treat) bought her a new small telly for the kitchen for her birthday, so should be able to watch some programes myself now.

I have the re-issue of the original kit...that isn't really the original kit.
