Layout

Thought I would kick off this section with a photo or two of my LS layout in it's early development stage and to remind folk that one thing us 'live steamers' are good at - it's FIRST AID!  We can dress a burn in 2 seconds flat. It comes with the territory

 Now you see it -

Now you don't -

It's evolved an awful lot since then. You can see more on my website.

And yes, there are 2 lakes steamers on the window sill - the one on the right is a real steamer with an engine and boiler built by me (and it's hasn't blown up, yet!).

They are very nice models!

I take it that you can't use that computer when the layout is folded down?
Even older tom

I can, but it needs a bit of ambulatory dexterity to use the rodent.

Hi Tom running live steam a lot better thanks to your wed site and advice.
At the moment can control Flying Scotsman better than Seagull, at the moment all I have is 1 oval of appox.60feet hope to get a station in at some later date.

Hi Ian,
Sorry, I've only just seen your post (a couple of times I've signed on recently have shown no new comments - but obviously there were!).

I'm really glad I've been of use.  Looking at the Hornby LS forum, there are still lots of people out there who might benefit as well so I'll keep on trying

Cheers

I find my A3 [Papyrus] easier to control than my A4 [Mallard]  ...........there are some differences in the two locos  ...........although I dunno what they are,as I've not had cause to remove the body from my A3 yet.
Even older tom

They are two totally different designs under the body.  Even the timing and regulator actuators are different.   The A3 looks simpler to build so I guess it's a Mk2 version.
Joe

The A4 Was the first model so It was undoubtedly the Mk 1 Test model to see how things would work and how they could Improve things into the A3. Also I see you have More Metcalfe! Tom... I think your an addict. You need modeling rehab... Here is the adrress: www.ifeellikebuildingmetcalfe.com (I dont know if it is a real Site so Im sorry If it is)

Joe:)
