Multimeter help! This is my multimeter. http://www.uni-trend.com.hk/UT30A.html# Anyone know which bit of the dial I should use to calculate stall current? I know I used the wrong setting 'cos I blew the fuse.

You need the dial switch pointing to 10A and the leads , one in the common and the other in the 10A socket as most motors stall at half an amp on n gauge and 1 Amp on 00

Soooper. Now all I need is a fuse.

The 10 Amp input might still work as it has its own fuse

Wierd! Yesterday there was no display at all. I took the fuse out and it had a gap in the middle of the wire. Ok, fuse blown. Today I turn it on and everything works???!!!&^%$%

That happens with mine sometimes if i have it on the wrong range ,the display stops working and just gives me a 00.00 in the display . Switch off and wait a while then back on again it clears the lock out

As its a digi one it wont matter , one way will say '-500mA' the other '500mA'

Thanks Pete, worked perfectly. Tested 3 loco's. Only one went a little above the Hornby max on stall current. My sharknose was well under, which makes me wonder what I'm doing wrong with the instalation.
