OK, Hornby gave us the wrong track gauge but...what was the overriding difference that made Horby Dublo more desirable than the contemporary manufacturers (e.g. Trix Twin etc.)?

Ive got some Trix coachies and they are as good as the Hornby ones from the same time , if not a bit better,

Were Hornby's models made in Britain, whilst others elsewhere?

All good guesses, but no cigars.
Hornby's 1st release was based on a real prototype (A4 Sir Nigel Gresley) whereas the Trix releases where a vague 'A3' and a 'Princess Coronation' class.
The track did bear a remarkable resemblance to the Marklin system, though!
