Painting track

I've read lots of tips and hints on how to paint the sides of the rails a rusty colour. There's even been little rollers designed to do the job.
My question is why don't people paint the track before it's laid? It would be so much easier to get to both sides without stretching.

That would be ok for set track but if you use flexable track the paint stops it from bending as smooth . Also as it moves the track side that was behind the chairs always seems to now be between them so you have to paint it again .
I know , i've tryed that

There is another solution, which I forgot. Arnold track was chemically blackened. That should be ok for flexible track.
As my Unitrack is setrack I shall paint it as soon as it's ready to be laid. Pity it's not chemically blackebed. I hate painting.
