Peco stud tags for contactsHi All,
Here is a good tip for small contacts where space is tight or where for eg: you need to solder to a chassis but the metal wont take solder .....
Pecos studs and tags http://tinyurl.com/nm5axy are ideal as they contain a small hole for a screw ......
Flatten them with a pair of pliers and file off the sharp bits .... then use a file to remove the plating to expose the brass underneath give them a good wipe and apply flux and tin the tab ready for wires.
I found these work well on Farish locos trapped under the screw through the split chassis on DCC conversion though their uses are unlimited.

Top Tip Nick! I finally managed to fit a decoder in my sharknose without letting the smoke out. The tip that clinched the deal was the heatshrink on the contact legs I think.
Ooooooh, my first successful hardwire.

I read that the gearing makes them run slowly. Maybe a special request by ER Models to Bachmann? Both my A and B seem slow compared with other makes.
Here's what the N Encyclopedia says. "Quite frankly, the top-to-bottom speed spectrum on these models is equal to perhaps the bottom half of most diesel models. And yeah, they do get to be a bit noisy at full throttle. But come on, clearly they weren't designed to run that fast (said speeds being a bit beyond prototypical reality).

Looks like the old owner of ER Models is back in business and selling the RF-16s again, http://models11.com/cart/
