Rail joiner/fishplate tool you can make easilyHi All,I saw this in a copy of MR recently & thought i would make one .. have you ever tried putting on rail joiners/fishplates with difficulty ? This tool helps a lot ...... you need a short length of rail with one end filed square with no burrs for the joiner end ...... a length of brass tubing for the rail to go in .... an inside diameter of tubing slightly smaller than is better for a good fit ..... file the top of the rail to size to fit in. Leave the rail half a joiners length protuding ....... slide in the tube & drop of superglue will hold the rail in place as here ..... though i am going to run a bead of epoxy around for better adhesion & fill the gap in the tube. Now its all ready to use no misaligned joiners on your track laying 
This is double ended HO/N scale.

Do you still split your fingers though Nick pushing the sleeper on to the rail, because that is usually what I do. It hurts when it goes under your nail.  but it looks like a good idea.

Nah Dave if you hold the joiner either side & push it on the rail in the tool it works without the red stuff escaping

Any Ideas for a girder Road Bridge to span about 2ft. could use timber for road but I need some girder spans.? | ||||

Yes that would do it Nick , Its to go accross 5 lots of track but I could put a support up the middle |

Thanks for the offer Nick, but in this picture (not very good) you can see the road bridge that I think will suite me better, but what not sure of is who sells the bridge sides, our local shop dont do Peco and I was wondering if that is who`s they are.

Almost ceratainly the Peco LK-10 girder bridge sides. http://www.anticsonline.co.uk/1251_1_1006126.html
I wouldn't like to go accross the bridge in the pic as the right hand side isn't over the supports.

Thanks Doug that is what I was looking for, just rung Hornby shop in Scarborough and they have them so ordered 3 to collect this weekend. Thanks Again

Hi Dave,
No problems the ones Poliss sent the link for are better for your needs just need some kind of support for them now either cast plaster or plasticard brick sheeting. Somewhere think i have an article on how to cast plaster supports try & find it. |

I have some brick sheeting Nick I`ll just use balsa wood supports with brick sheeting atached Thanks for your help
