RoadsI know that Tom has some good advice on roads somewhere but I would like to ask for some tips here and how to make some decent roadways. My idea is painting a mixed base colour on and then lightley sprinkling some tarmac scatter to give it some texture. I feel that this will give me a better colour. Green Scene make a Light and Dark Tarmac but ordering from there is a lengthy process by the looks of things and you can't see what their products look like. Does anyone have an experience with these?

Mine is just Gaugemaster gravel mats layed down with card underneith so it doesn't bend with some bushes around it, looks pretty good for a gravel or country lane.

Also be weary it isnt the colour in the pic it is grey gravel stuck on to a green mat, (you cant see the green unless you wipe away the gravel,)

Hi Will, if you start off with a good, fine surface (e.g MDF or quality ply), just paint or spray with acrylics to the shade you THINK might be right. You can over-paint as many times as you want. Be adventurous - you won't be sorry, I promise!
If it's a rough surface (e.g. cork or chipboard) then thinly coat with slightly watered down filler and then paint.
I've found that the secret is not to be afraid - you will be amazed at what you can do.

Cheers for the advice. The surface is part plastic card and part smooth chipboard so spraying should be fine.
