Signals for my layout.

Hi  all,

Doing    a  bit  of  forward planning  here for  signals possibly  for  the  layout,  the  British/Continental  siganls seem  well catered  for  but where  can  i  source  some  good  quality   signals  for the layout here & how do  American  signals  differ.
I've  looked  at some  other  posts  on but i  get  lost  in the  meaning  of   what  goes  where
Not  looking for  anything  to  complicated  just  sometihng to add interest
Oh  and simple to  wire  up being  electrically  challenged    i'll  be using  a  12v  output  from the  gaugemaster control   for  them.

I did find (and lose) a page all about American signal practise, but since my railway is of the preserved type owned by an eccentric millionaire in Europe my signals are of European type. However, I think I've found the page again.
http://tinyurl.com/5psura The links at the top are for full size manufacturers which aren't what you need. The links lower down will be what you are looking for. Some don't work, but the rest are fine.

Here's a website that shows you how to make your own signals on the cheap.

The cheapest ready made signal I found was £8.90, which isn't cheap! http://tinyurl.com/6ectlb

Hope the links are of some use to you.

It might be possible to modify the Bachmann or Greenmax kits.

There's a US Ebayer that sells operating signal kits. Price doesn't look too bad, but there's no postage price listed. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/N-Scale-3-l...iewItemQQ_trksidZp1742.m153.l1262

Another Ebay seller is Jims Model Trains.

Hi Nick,

maybe the following article in Model Railroader's october 2007 edition has some usefule information for ya:

http://www.trains.com/mrr/objects/pdf/oct_2007_web_reference.pdf

It's a PDF file, so you need the Acrobat reader to open it...

Take care,
Erhard
