Very interesting article Pol. Thanks for posting.
(One wonders how this article was returned from the search argument. )

Hmmm ...interesting reading.
I would be interested to know exactly what viscosity "Hornby Live Steam Oil" is ....[not that I'll use anything else while the genuine article is still available] ...but if rumblings on the "Big H" forum are true,Live Steam could be phased out and along with it supplies of oil ...[and distilled water].
I still have the original bottle of oil I got with my Mallard almost four years ago [I learned early on that over-oiling leads to it being splattered all over everything] and I just add a drip from the end of the syringe every steaming ....in fact the same bottle has also lasted 12months of running my Papyrus A3 too ...so I have another unused bottle still to last me....All this from at least one "steaming" per week for allmost four years.
I'll take a guess that the oil Hornby supply is a mineral [as oposed to a synthetic "motor oil" type] ....although the viscosity is any-ones guess.
Thoughts anyone??
