Technical question.Do 12v DC lights work ok on 15v AC. Do they need resistors or what????
Do I need a powerfull controller/transformer too?
At the moment my DC controller is similar, but not the same as the Hornby R965. I'm searching for an old style Farish controller.

When you say lights do you mean light blubs or LEDs ?

Both.

LEDs won't work very well on ac its best to put in a diode to and a higher value resistor and take less power than light bulbs .
Light bulbs are rated by voltage so is best not to go over the voltage they have on them as they will be brighter get hotter and burn out quicker

But all things being equal, bulbs don't mind if the power supply is AC or DC?

Bulbs don't care at all ! they will run on ac or dc its a higher voltage they don't like

I just thought of a snag with running my coach lights on AC. I have directional LED's in my locomotives running on DC. I use a diode for this purpose.
