I agree Joe, but doesn't Tornado looks better with the small amount of weathering that's accumulated?

damn, he got there one of the days it was running. I went the only day it failed! It failed on its last run on the saturday, and wasnt running sunday when i went, but was fine the monday!
I was quite disapointed with the gala really. Alot of the locos were failed that first weekend, and the timetable was totally different to the one planned, very disapointing really.

Failed already? To be expected with a 70 year old locomotive maybe, but Tornado is brand new for goodness sake.

yup, it failed, i dont think it came out what was wrong with it, there are a few rumours here and there though. It was only out of action for 1 day so it can't of been that serious.
It was rescued by a class 37 on it last train of the day of the saturday.
geat pics by Dave though!

Some websites say it was the fusible plug. If so, that's an operating fault and shouldn't have been allowed to happen.

Yes, that was the rumour that was most numerous. Shame, such a expensive and nice loco, and they let it fail!
