Turntable.

I am planning (in my Head) a turntable on my layout. It will be a very small Manual one that can only handle an 0-4-0 Loco at any one time. with some sidings running off it. It is just an extra place to store Locos when the layout is down as I am getting sick of taking them off and on when I need the Track and when I am building.

(Just to let you know...)

Oh also while I was on Holiday I forgot to cover my Locos Up and they got all dusty on top this looks really good as a very light weathering Job the only thing is that when you lift the locos off the track to put the layout back you put finger prints in it....

What are you going to use for gears or are you just going to turn it with your hands?

Some where i saw the plans for a small turntable that used a CD or DVD as a base . Can't promise to find it but i will have a look for you .
It should take a 0-6-0 with the couplings hanging over the edge

Was it this article? http://carendt.us/articles/FAQs/CDtable.html

Don't think it was , as i remember it being used on a 'run round' on a station layout  , but its the same thing   I will still look for it but not as hard

I saw that as well Peter, but I can't think where i saw it.

Railway moddeller Feburuary 08. I was reading it that is what gave me the Idea.

Also Ive changed my Plans Im going to build one but as a turn around point for the 0-4-0 shunters at the end of the stationI am going to add more sidings at the Other forbidden end of the layout.

This is where the turntable was going to be:

As you can see this is now going to be sidings.
But I have a problem!

I cant decide If I really want one afteral the layout IMO looks small enough without loads of sidings dominating Half of the Board! Opinions would be very appreciated as If I go ahead with I it I will nee 3 New r/h points and at the moment I am saving for more things than I have the Money for Priority is Ke1 Though

The only problem i can see will be getting power to the sidings , unless you run DCC
Joe

I took a photograph of my J39 Yesterday and I think it shows the Weathering by Dust rather well.
