What do you want from a magazine?I see the usual argument about reviews in model mags is still going strong on the Model Rail Forum. Personally, I couldn't care less about the reviews. It's just like one big advert as far as I'm concerened. I'm not too fussed about descriptions of peoples layouts either. I've been reading them since the late 60's and they're nearly all the same.
What I want to see are loads more hints and tips, like how Do you join two parallel track sections at the same time without one track coming apart while you fit the other. Colour pictures of service sheets, not those line drawings that come with the loco's where you can't tell where anything goes. Pictures of fitting a dcc chip in a different loco'coach every month. The Trials of Treehouse were a waste of space.
In other words, a magazine that's about modelling instead of adverts.

I only buy the mags if there are lots of layout pictures or a layout that i like the look of for ideas for mine . I have to read them in the car park as when i get home Ryan takes them and i don't see them for months

Ahhhh, so you're the chappie that stands in front of me at Smiffies and stops me getting to the mags. That's why I bought a subscription. (Not to be renewed at the end of the year).

I'd also like to see articles about what coaches go with which locomotives esp. when and where. The subject is hardly touched upon. Mostly, it seems to me, that the magazine bods don't know themselves.
