What feature would you like to see on decoders?Hornby have said that on the Sapphire decoders there will be a fuel and water usage feature. Just a gimmick as far as I'm concerned.
I'd like to see a total running hours feature so that I can keep track of usage of my stock, perhaps giving me a chance to buy a new motor ready for the old one giving up the ghost.
What would others like?
PS why can't they just plug in like memory cards instead of having to take the loco/tender apart?

Auto configuration on all decoders. I read that Marklin decoders have it.

Well fuel and water usage is the next step on from sound , and it would not be hard for them to have an 'total hours run' it might already be in there ! Only accessible in there special 'service mode' .Lots of TVs have this in theres

The cynic in me says that no-one will produce a DCC system that has everything everyone wants (although they could!) and will keep releasing new stuff with more features just to keep the sales figures up by getting people to want the latest bell and whistle (groan!).
That's why I'm staying 12v until it all settles down a bit.
