I visited the East Grinstead RMC exhibition today and picked this HO Bachmann set up for £20.00. The whole kit - track, controller etc.
It's a replica of 'The John Bull' loco that was made in (wait for it Pol... don't go spare!) New Castle in England (that's what it says, honest!)
I haven't a clue what I'll do with it, but a re-paint might not come amiss. Added bonus: the controller is 1000% better than my old Hornby one.
Btw, if I used the (powered) tender as a chassis for a narrow gauge loco, would that be a 'proper' scale or a bit of a hybrid? (one for Pete, that question!)
Edit: It was brand new in box.

Photobucket seems to be having problems - can't view the video.
How many scales are you going to model in at one time Tom? Are you going for a record? lol
Looks good from the still though, and a bargin to boot!

Not toooo upset Tom, as New Castle used to be Newcastle's name once upon a time. Robert Curthose, eldest son of Bill the Conk, built a New Castle near the town of Monkchester. Much better than Newcastlegateshead that the dozy councillors call the place now.
Just had a quick google for your set Tom and the list price is $125.00, so you haven't done badly. Bachmann controllers work ok, but I don't like the design of the box.
